Namibia

Namibia, planned by people who live here.

Dunes, desert-adapted wildlife, a wild Atlantic coast and some of the darkest skies on earth. We plan guided tours, self-drive routes and day trips from Windhoek, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.

When to go

Namibia through the year.

There is no bad month, only different trips. This is how we plan around the seasons.

MonthsSeasonBest for
May – OctDry winter. Warm days, cold desert nights.Etosha game viewing at the waterholes, clear desert light, peak season.
Nov – AprHot summer with afternoon rains in the north and east.Birding, green landscapes, newborn wildlife and lower lodge rates.
All yearCool, foggy Atlantic coast.Swakopmund and Walvis Bay activities, and a break from the inland heat.

Good to know

Before you go.

Do I need a visa to visit Namibia?

It depends on your passport. Rules for several countries changed in 2025, so we check your nationality when we quote and tell you exactly what to apply for.

Can I pay in rand?

Yes. The Namibian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the South African rand and rand is accepted almost everywhere. Card payments work in towns and most lodges.

Is self-drive safe?

Self-drive is a popular way to see Namibia. Many roads are gravel, distances are long and fuel stops are far apart, so we plan realistic daily distances and brief you before you set off.

How far ahead should I book?

For July to October and December holidays, book 3 to 6 months ahead. Lodges near Sossusvlei and inside Etosha fill up first.
